Local area description
Located just outside the village of Vares, north of Tonneins, this peaceful setting lies in the heart of the French countryside near the River Garonne. The local area is renowned as a fishing destination, with Vares offering a nearby lake stocked with carp, perch, tench, roach, and pike—just a few minutes away by car or on foot. The rivers Garonne and Lot, both within easy reach, are popular for fishing large carp, black bass, catfish, and pike. Fishing permits are easily available locally, with holiday licenses starting at around €20.
Vares village offers essential amenities including a bar, a convenience store, and a local shop selling bread and newspapers, while the nearby town of Tonneins provides a full range of supermarkets, restaurants, bars, and lively weekly markets. Whether you’re here for the tranquil setting, the fishing opportunities, or simply to unwind with loved ones and pets, Pie Pasquie is an ideal base for your holiday in the French countryside.

Pie Pasquie is a beautiful holiday house. It is spotlessly clean, well equipped and thoughtfully put together for a fun and happy holiday. The house itself is spacious and cosy all at once. There is a comfy seating area, table football, a huge dining table, and a lovely big kitchen. The period features are gorgeous, especially the fireplaces and solid stone spiral staircase. The bedrooms are decorated in keeping with style of the property. The bathrooms are clean and well maintained. The owners live on site and couldn’t have been more welcoming. They even brought around a birthday cake for my Mum-in-law on her birthday which was kind. They were on hand if we needed anything but also left us to enjoy our holiday and their dogs are very sweet. The pool is gorgeous, the jets and waterfall make it very luxurious and the dining area is a lovely place for lunch and dining. It’s in a wonderful location for relaxing and close to a small shop for essentials. Altogether we had a very special holiday here and would highly recommend. Thank you for a lovely time Pie Pasquie!

Pie Pasquie was clean on arrival and catered well for all of us. In particular we loved the outside space which was perfect for the children and dogs. The swimming pool was fantastic. The bedrooms were all adequate, as were the bathrooms. The kitchen was plenty big enough with many options for dining indoors and out. The hosts were very friendly and approachable; Kerry maintained the pool daily and Colleen had some very useful advice on activities out and about.

Wonderful vacation spent at this Manoir. We stayed with 3 families (6 adults and 6 children). The spaces in the accommodation are more than enough, especially since we spent most of our time outside (sun and heat every day), enjoying the dining/barbecue area, the pool, and outdoor activities. The barbecue area with freezer and fridge is a real plus. The owner took excellent care of the pool every morning. The Manor has remained authentic, which gives a real charm to the property. It is very well equipped with lots of utensils and amenities. The owners are very discreet, welcoming, and always smiling. It’s very pleasant. Everything went smoothly, from booking to our week spent on site. Communication was very smooth with Carol and Ian from FranchGiteHolidays, they were very responsive in answering our various questions. Thanks again for this wonderful week, I highly recommend this accommodation for large families or gatherings with friends.
