Cosy yet bright and airy, the space enjoys open views across the surrounding fields. Tucked away in a quiet valley amid beautiful countryside, it’s an ideal base for walking, cycling, or simply slowing down and relaxing beside the 8m x 4m pool or in the gite's private garden.
Perfect for two, the gîte is also well suited to a small family. The day bed in the living area converts into a comfortable bed for a child, and we have a travel cot available for our youngest guests. For safety reasons, the cot is positioned downstairs.
Throughout the property, we’ve incorporated beautifully restored recycled wood. The light fitting is crafted from an old barn beam, while the staircase panelling and bed headboard are made from the original chestnut parquet flooring from the main farmhouse. The result is a light-filled space that blends modern comfort with subtle touches of the property’s history.
Although compact at 43 square metres, the gîte feels surprisingly spacious. Thoughtful details have been added throughout to ensure a comfortable and relaxing stay.
The kitchen is well equipped with essentials including cooking oil, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt and pepper, as well as tea and coffee. The shower room provides the basics too — shower gel, shampoo, toilet roll, and hand soap.
Cleaning is included in the price, provided the property is left clean and tidy as found. If additional cleaning is required, a €50 fee will apply.
We have a barn available for secure overnight storage of motorbikes or bicycles.
One well-behaved, house-trained dog is very welcome — we have a friendly collie who loves to play. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times on our property, except when inside the enclosed gîte garden. For hygiene reasons, dogs are not permitted in the swimming pool area. Please note that we also keep sheep, free-range chickens, and ducks.
If you have any special requests, we’ll always do our very best to help. Whether you’d like a meal prepared for your arrival, pool towels provided, or something else arranged, just let us know.
For stays of seven nights or more, a welcome basket is included. It features locally sourced staples, a few treats, our own free-range eggs (when the hens are laying), and — depending on the season — fresh vegetables from our garden.
The accommodation has its own private entrance, allowing you to come and go as you please.
At the front of the property is a fully enclosed private garden with a patio, table and chairs, sun loungers, and a BBQ.
Parking is available on the grass outside the main gates.
There is plenty to see and do within a 30-minute drive.
In the neighbouring towns and villages, you’ll find traditional markets and brocantes, along with a variety of independent shops, cafés, and restaurants. Cognac and wine tasting are nearby, and there are some truly fantastic restaurants in the area — several are popular, so booking in advance is recommended to secure a table.
Kayaking on the Charente River is available in Ruffec, Jarnac, and Cognac — a wonderful way to explore the region from the water.
Less than 10 minutes away is a beautiful inland lake with a sandy beach, ideal for swimming and relaxing. From June through September, a pop-up style restaurant opposite the lake serves classic “steak frites,” and additional bars and restaurants can be found in the surrounding towns and villages.
The nearest shop is just five minutes away and sells a little of everything, including a fantastic deli and butcher’s counter. There are also three larger supermarkets within a 15-minute drive in various directions.
The local dairy, also five minutes away, welcomes visitors at milking time, where you can buy fresh raw milk, delicious yoghurts, and creamy beurre cru with salt crystals — a real local treat.
The Atlantic beaches are just over an hour away, perfect for a day trip.
